The way things work是一本著名的科普童书，BBC根据书做了动画片，以一个猛犸象小岛上的居民在日常生活工作中遇到的各类问题为背景，讲解相关知识。动画片情节生动有趣，而且动画演示各种机械原理也很形象，是一部很不错的科普动画片。

The Way Things Work was a short-lived television series based on the best-selling The_Way_Things_Work book of the same name by David Macaulay. The series was co-produced by Millimages and Schlessinger Media; it was distributed by the latter. The program ran daily on BBC2 and CBBC from 2001 to early 2002, before it was discontinued due to a lack of both episodes and audience. The series (hand-animated) was one of the last few educational TV programmes still shown by the BBC on CBBC.
